Two people were trapped Tuesday morning in an elevator at the Forest Glen Metro station on Georgia Avenue due to an apparent malfunction, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Pete Piringer.
Piringer said the incident occurred at the station at 9730 Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring.
“At approximately 7:45 a.m. an elevator went out of service with two customers inside,” said Ron Holzer, spokesman, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authorities.
“Escalator technicians responded, and the two customers were released.”
WMATA officials also investigated an arcing insulator at the same metro station early Monday morning.
